First dive for Greek team after the lock-down

Two weeks after the Greek government eased the restrictive measures imposed to curb the spread of the coronavirus, volunteer divers of Ghost Diving Greece returned to the water for another Healthy Seas cleanup! After all, ghost nets were never under lock-down, proof of which is the poor lobster that was found dead by the divers.

Seven volunteers successfully recovered 100 meters of gill nets from 45 meters depth in the area of Alepochori. The fishing nets will be transported for cleaning and the nylon parts will be sent for regeneration and mixed with other nylon waste to produce ECONYL® yarn.

Things are slowly returning to a new normal. Before COVID-19 entered our lives, the divers would use 1 boat for their operation but now, to respect the social distancing regulations, they needed to take 2.
