Coordinator: Dean Cullen
Based in Malin Head, County Donegal, Dean is a CCR and technical diver, skipper, and founder of Mevagh Diving. With years of experience exploring the wrecks off Malin Head and along Ireland’s rugged coastline, he has witnessed first-hand the lasting impact of ghost nets and lost fishing gear on wrecks and marine life.
Ghost Diving Ireland will operate around the entire Irish coast, focusing on the safe removal of abandoned fishing gear from wrecks and reefs. Working closely with local fishermen, dive clubs, and environmental partners, the chapter aims to protect marine life, preserve Ireland’s underwater heritage, and raise awareness of the ghost-gear problem.
